  General information

  The explosion protectionat the "monitoring system of an exfree zone" is realized by operating a non-explosion-protected equipment in a protected enclosure. This housing is protected by a durable pressure with air or an inert gas prior to penetrate the enclosure or cabinet by possibly explosive atmosphere. In the new approach developed by Quintex, is not flushed, but released for operation by a gas detector of the cabinet. This ensures that no explosive gas/air mixture is present. This saves time and expensive pressurized air and accelerate the operation of the non ex devices.

  Coverage of air leakage

  In operation and after releasing, a positive pressure in the mbar range is maintained within the cabinet. On the input side of pressurized air (gas) you can uses solenoid valves (open / closed) as well as proportional valves to cover the air leakage of the cabinet.With our control unit for digital valves, the pressure air is supplied through a hysteresis in the range of 6mbar (on) and 10mbar (closed). This can be omitted expensive proportional valves and simultaneously thus leakage changes (eg:. Increasing the leakage losses due to aging processes), are automatically compensated.

  General information

  • The QPU Controller (a complete new and own development of Quintex GmbH) is a control device to maintain an exfree zone within an enclosure, cabinet or device by overpressure. It is suitable for monitoring the pressure in Ex Zones 1, 21, 2 and 22. After the cabinet or the device was released by gas detection measurement an overpressure will build up and all internal device will be activated. The controller will monitor the overpressure during operation.

  General information

  • The explosion protection by pressurized system is realized by using the non-explosion devices in a overpressurized housing. This housing by a permanent pressure with air or inert gas keeps away a potential explosive atmosphere. Depending on the application and existing explosion protection zone, before using the devices or controlsystems the housing be released by a das detection. This will ensure that not a possibly explosible atmosphere exists in the housing existing.Depending on the application and the existing atmosphere (gas or dust), at a start-up of the cabinet QUINTOS Exp will released by gas measurement.
    After releasing, the housing is closed, air or inert gas for leakage compensation is launched in the QUINTOS . This is time saving (fast release of the panel) and cost saving (no expensive pressurized air for flushing). This pressure is approx. 5 mbar.
    In all zones the control unit QPU can be used. It works with a digital valve or a proportional to compensate the leakage of the panel or enclosure.

  Start up

  It is important before the initial start-up that some key points are reviewed to ensure a smooth operation for example:
  
  - Are all cable glands locked
  - Is the lid of the control unit mounted
  - Is the key for the bypass switch off
  - Is the pressure gauge within a value of 2 bar
  - Was a gas detection done before start up
  
  Are all these checked, the doors can be closed and the control cabinet can be filled with compressed air or inert (not explosible, such as nitrogen) gas. The built-in valve opens and the pressure increases, the Quintex patented main contactor (installed within the cabinet (no expensive flameproof enclosure is needed) switch on and automatically switches the power supply.

  General information

  • QUINTEX offers the enclosure series SPZ in different sizes and designs. All systems are available for the use in hazardous area (Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22) in the protection type overpressure. Variants can vary depending on the specific application. The enclosure series SPZ allowed the customer to bring his non ex-components directly in the hazardous area. The enclosures are certified and ready to use immediately after installation. By sending the documentation especially wiring diagram, drawing, bill of material and photos the type label will arrive quickly after examination the documents. By connecting the power supply and the necessary pressure - both find in the accompanying documentation - the system starts automatically. The QUINGUARD® control unit works without a flushing phase and starts after free measurement with the stationary gas detector automatically. The elimination of flushing time and the use of flushing gas make´s the operation particularly economical. Each cabinet has different power dissipation that can be used in side, please look in the documentation or on the type label what is maximum allowed.

  General information

  • Quintex offers a Ex px PC cabinet in different sizes and designs. All systems are available for hazardous areas (Zones 2/22 or 1/21). Depending on the specific application different performance PC can be used. Here all options are possible (e.g. an 'All-in-on' PC or a normal PC + a TFT screen from a computershop). Mounting configurations are available as a support arm or pedestal .
    Different keyboards are available with mouse pad or trackball. To perform data connections from the outside into the cabinet, up to three interface modules with different interfaces are usable. To minimize the air consumption a valve module with a pressure-controlled leakage compensation is used. The 'Exfree zone' Quintex PC system works without purging, and is thus ready for use immediately after release by gas detection. The elimination of flushing time and pressurized air only for flushing makes the operation very economical. The release gas detection is made with commercial gas detectors.
